CABUYA fue un grupo de Rock Alternativo de Costa Rica.
El proyecto CABUYA estuvo vigente del año 2001 al 2004.
En el año 2002, grabaron un Demo con 5 canciones. El material fue capturado de forma casera, y les permitió promocionar su música y conseguir más chivos.
Un año después, llegó el momento de grabar otro material de una forma más profesional. Apareció en el mercado nacional el EP: Corteza del 2003, el cual fue labrado en el estudio: La Alternativa de Marcos Monnerat y masterizado en Cisma Producciones por Esteban Rojas.
El EP: Corteza contenía cuatro temas y el que mayor difusión tuvo fue: “El Bosque”, el cual alcanzó la posición # 3 en la lista: “Feeling The Hits” de la estación – Radio 103.
Dentro de sus presentaciones, cabe recordar:
- El primer “chivo”, en el bar El Lago en Grecia, compartiendo escenario con José Capmany, en el 2001,
- El “chivo” acústico en el Jazz Café, en octubre del 2002.
- La presentación del EP: Corteza, en Cavalé, junto a Esimple, en el 2004 y
- La despedida de “El Cielo”, con Gandhi y Sintagma en Bash, en el 2004.
Aparte de las bandas anteriormente mencionadas, CABUYA, compartió tarima junto a Non Plus Ultra y San Lucas, por mencionar otras.
Para mediados del 2004, CABUYA, tocaron su último “chivo” en el Bar La Nena Live (anteriormente conocido como el bar El Ático, y posteriormente El Retrovisor).
CABUYA fue extinguiéndose poco a poco y sus integrantes tomaron rumbos distantes al proyecto. Hoy, se les considera referentes dentro de la escena nacional, gracias a su aporte, en tan sólo 4 años de existencia.
Los miembros de CABUYA se integraron a otras bandas en la actualidad. Se escucharon rumores de su posible regreso, pero, hasta el 2011, esa posibilidad no se ha concretado…
